Artist Statement

Split Paintings explore an idea or tells a story from two different view points. Splitting the canvas into two sides. The left side is painted representationally, representing a more literal and direct interpretation of the idea. While the right side is painted abstractly, exploring less tangible ideas such as thoughts, memories and emotions. Each side requires a separate approach and state of mind to create.
